RPMS of varnish-2.1.3

Varnish is a high performance, state of the art HTTP accelerator, used by sites like Facebook and Twitter.

I recently built RPMS of varnish-2.1.3 for RHEL and derivates. Source and binary packages for el4 and el5 on x86_64 are available from http://sourceforge.net/projects/varnish/files/.

Packages for other arches and test builds for el6 may be found here.

As before, packages in the 2.1 series will not reach EPEL4 and EPEL5, as they are stuck at the 2.0 version, and updating to 2.1 needs manual intervention, and possibly changing of the VCL configuration. I’ll try to push an update to 2.1 in EPEL6 soon.

  1. Anything new and exciting in this RPM compared to the old ones? I’m still rolling my own to be able to to reload and run several varnishes at the same box without stopping them all with init.d “stop”

  2. Ingvar says:

    ay:
    $ rpm -qp –changelog varnish-2.1.3-1.el5.src.rpm | head -4

    - New upstream release
    - Add a patch for jemalloc on s390 that lacks upstream
